New wysiwyg editor

Ticket

+commit

From the old bug system:

  • style editor issues -- can only use multiple styles when in html view (bold and italic on same words, for example)
  • if you press return when at the beginning of a header line, the previous line becomes a header.  (this causes screwups with the table of contents among other things)
  • Can't save from html mode
  • Inserted text at the beginning of a link becomes part of the link - annoying (eg, adding checks in our weekly action lists)

A new editor - TinyMCE.

You can configure it at *tinyMCE - config info: http://wiki.moxiecode.com/index.php/TinyMCE:Configuration

add link instructions to the bottom -- use the bar for that:

link: [ [name]] / [ [name|text]] or include: { {name}} / { {name|view}}

Remaining issues moved to their own tickets and tagged with TinyMCE.

We're trying out a new editor at at http://sandbox.wagn.org/wagn/Tiny_Test

This is mostly working now. To get a custom set editor setup, you have just add a *tinyMCE card. I put a sample copy on the sandwagn.

Looking through their docs i don't see any option for a button to insert hr tags. Something for a new ticket once this one is closed i guess...

It's just hr in theme_advanced_buttons1

Suggested help text:
links: [ [card name]] / [ [card name|visible text]] inclusions: { {card name}} / { {card name|view}}
with view italicized and inclusions a link

Hm, maybe even this:
To link to a card type its name inside double brackets: [ [Portland, OR]] More documentation
with documentation a link

Ticketed

Centering seems to work in Edit mode, but when you save it i guess the HTML gets stripped out.

Presumably messing with the valid elements would allow this.

Grant suggests checking out http://www.standards-schmandards.com/2007/wysiwyg-editor-test-2/ - and he's about to try it out for something.

I think we're pretty settled on TinyMCE for now. Moving this one off 0.10- leaving open for you to review in case bits still need action.
