When a card already exists, and you give it a cardtype, it won't include a soft template. This is a problem when you use the same name for say both a cardtype and a tag. If you created the tag first, even if it is blank and autocreated because you created a plus card using it, you don't get the cardtype template.

If the content is blank when you change the type, it should pull the template. You could use the lack of any versions (version 0 and blank), not sure what is best. I vote for anytime it is blank.
