maintain canonical URLs from migrating sites+issues
It would be nice if you could switch from any (or as many as possible) other systems to Wagn without changing canonical URLs, or breaking subdirectory links.
A more thought-out solution for the case of files: implement hosted files. Something similar could be done for non-Wagn cgis.

I don't think i'm getting what you mean about seeing something as a different type based on extension; can oyu draw that out a little bit?

This ticket isn't very descriptive. What kind of migrations are these and what sorts of URLs are we migrating? Internal ones?
closing: too vague. any sort of system import (eg drupal, mediawiki, wordpress, etc) will need its own idea/ticket.
