How can you display the card editor as a block when you double click on a card?+status

Suppose you have a couple of transclusion of other cards inside a card. Double clicking on one of the transclusions allows you to edit it in place but the editor is streched to fill the entire width of the page.
1. How can I display is as a block, unstreched, in the place where the content actually exists?
2. Is it possible to set this globally for all cards?

For both, you could experiment with "display: inline-block" in CSS; that would be my first approach.
